If you verify with a school email for anonymous use, we use the address to check which campus you belong to and do not store the raw school email address. We may store a school/session record and verification timestamp so the anonymous session can keep working.
If you create an account, we store your personal email address, username, school, email-verification status, and a securely hashed password. We use this so you can log in, recover your account, receive transactional emails, and manage any organization you verify as an officer. Your email and password are never shown publicly.
If you submit ratings, reviews, discussion posts, comments, organization submissions, edit suggestions, claim requests, reports, feedback, logos, links, or event information, we store the content and related metadata needed to operate, moderate, and display the platform.
We also process limited technical information, including IP address, browser type, device/browser characteristics, cookies or session tokens, and basic usage events, to keep the platform functioning and safe. IP addresses are used for rate limiting and bot prevention; we do not intentionally store them in our database for ordinary posts, ratings, or reviews, though hosting, security, email, and infrastructure providers may process logs as part of providing their services.
When you submit an anonymous rating, we derive and store a device signal: a one-way hash of basic browser and device characteristics. It is used solely to reduce repeated anonymous ratings from the same device for the same organization. It is not used for advertising, is not linked to your public identity, and is not used to track you across other websites.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Information we collect is used to: operate and improve the platform, verify student status, prevent spam and abuse, respond to support requests, and comply with legal obligations. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles or share it with advertisers at this time.

We authorize these providers to use your data only as needed to provide services to us, comply with law, secure their systems, and enforce their own terms.
Ratings, reviews, discussion posts, and comments appear publicly as Anonymous by default. If you are logged in, you may choose to attach your username to an individual submission — only then is a name shown publicly with it.
Internally, ratings and reviews you submit while logged in are linked to your account so that you can see and manage your own contributions, so we can enforce one rating per organization, and so we can respond to abuse. This link is not visible to other users or to organizations. Posts made without an account are tied only to a temporary browsing session. We do not attempt to re-identify anonymous contributors except as needed to operate the service, enforce our rules, investigate abuse, protect users, or comply with valid legal process.
Your IP address may be temporarily held in server memory to rate-limit abuse, such as spam or coordinated fake ratings. We do not intentionally write IP addresses to our application database for ordinary posts, ratings, or reviews.
We use HTTPS/TLS for all data in transit. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may disclose information to law enforcement, government authorities, or other parties when required to do so by law, court order, or legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
Because many posts are anonymous and we minimize persistent identifying data for anonymous activity, our ability to identify anonymous users may be limited. Content submitted while logged in is associated with the account that submitted it. See our Legal page for more about anonymous speech and legal process.
We do not give organizations or universities access to internal account links, session data, device signals, or other non-public moderation data about who submitted a rating, review, or post. Public content, usernames intentionally attached by users, and officer-managed profile details may be visible to everyone.
UOrgs is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will delete their account and associated data promptly. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.
If California privacy law applies to us and to your information, you may have rights to know, access, correct, or delete personal information, to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information, to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights. If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland and applicable data protection laws apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, as well as data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. You can permanently delete your account at any time from your Account page. This removes your personal email and login credentials immediately. Ratings, reviews, and posts you made stay up (they were already anonymous) but are no longer linked to any account once it is deleted.
We may show advertising on this platform in the future to help cover operating costs. If we do, we will update this policy before introducing any ad-related tracking technology, and we will not sell or share your account information, ratings, or posting activity with advertisers.
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of UOrgs after a change means you accept the updated policy.
