Rating Rules

Everyone agrees to these when they sign up. They apply to every rating, review, and post.

UOrgs works because students share honest opinions about campus organizations. Honesty — including harsh, critical, and negative opinions — is welcome. These rules exist so it stays about the orgs, and never turns into attacks on people.

You can

  • Give honest ratings and opinions, including negative ones
  • Describe your own experience with an organization
  • Criticize how an org is run, its events, dues, or recruitment
  • Ask questions about time commitment, cost, or culture
  • Submit factual corrections backed by evidence

You must never

  • Make violent threats of any kind, including death threats, against anyone
  • Attack people based on religion, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic
  • Use slurs, hate speech, or dehumanizing language
  • Threaten, harass, bully, or incite others to harass a specific person
  • Post anyone's private personal information (doxxing)
  • State false claims about a private individual as though they were verified fact
  • Impersonate a member, officer, or organization
  • Spam, post duplicates, or coordinate or manipulate ratings
  • Try to identify or expose anonymous posters
  • Post anything illegal

What we protect

We generally do not remove a review solely because an organization dislikes it. Critical, negative reviews are a core part of what makes UOrgs useful. Organizations can report content, but a report does not automatically remove anything — our moderation team reviews it against these rules.

If you break these rules

Content that violates these rules may be removed, and accounts that post it may be warned, suspended, or permanently banned — especially for threats or attacks on people. Serious violations, such as credible threats, may be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Use the report button on any rating, review, or post to flag something that breaks these rules. These rules are part of our Terms of Use.
